When planning for retirement, it is critical to have an experienced financial advisor on your side. Kevin Duffy CPA, CFP, CFF has over 35 years’ experience in public accounting and over 12 years as a Certified Financial Planner.

There are times when the unexpected happens and some people are forced into an early retirement while others wait for a specific age to retire. To have a successful retirement one needs to be mentally prepared by having your finances in order and a plan to keep your mind active.

On February 26, 1993, my father worked as an electrician in the World Trade Center. He was doing routine electrical maintenance in the sub-basement. That dreaded day changed his mind set about life.

Workers at the site were eating lunch in the area he needed to work in. They asked him to return later in the day. While my father was away, a bomb exploded that fatally injured the men and woman who were in the sub-basement. Fortunately, my father survived.

My father was 60 years old at the time, and realized how lucky he was. He decided he would retire at age 62  and spent two years planning his retirement strategy.  Part of his plan was to put a budget together, take early social security and start taking his pension. Twenty-nine years later he is still retired and enjoying life.

There are key factors to consider when planning for retirement. Some include what age you plan to retire and lifestyle. As well as how much money you saved and your budget.

Mr. Duffy provides financial guidance to help you strategically allocate your assets in your retirement planning. Meeting your individual needs, maintaining your lifestyle, covering medical expenses, planning for long-term care, and protecting your legacy are crucial to you enjoying a successful retirement.
